What is a Tag Container ?
A Tag Container is a virtual element capable of embracing the content of tracking. Tracking elements may vary (Web Analytics, Affiliation, SEO, mobile...) and are usually based on heterogeneous technologies (iframe, images tags, JavaScript tags, XML files ...). A Tag Container must be coupled to a parameter and a production interface that will permit to replace the manual tagging process by a centralized and user friendly management interface. Tag commander is a Tag Container associated to a Universal tag.
What is the relation with a Universal Tag ?
A Universal tag is a norm that permits to define an exhaustive list of variables that a web site would like to collect in order to share with third party tools such as indexation robots, ad-server, affiliation platforms, CMS, referencing optimization, targeting solutions, web-analytics... A Universal tag works independently from third party tracking. Tag Commander enhances both concepts Universal tag and Tag Container into one solution, creating the first Universal Tag Container.
Piggy backing
In web terms piggy backing consists on linking a third party tracking to another thanks to a proprietary technology (Tag Commander). The Tag container enhances a second tag (WebAnalytics, Affiliation, AdServer). Each tracking tool on the web uses its own elements and there for its own tags, the ones you have to add, remove, modify. The more elements you manage, the more tags you have to deal with. Using the piggy backing technique via a Tag Container is an efficient and secure way to avoid technical interference on the web site, the mobile application or the solution you want to measure.
Tag Performance, Asynchronous Tag
Web sites performance is critical for visitors, performance is strongly linked to tag execution time. Navigation is often slowed due to third party scripts (advertising, audience tags...) that are downloaded after the home page, creating a negative user experience since each display of a new page takes several seconds. Optimizing the way scripts are executed permits pages to be downloaded faster. Tag commander accelerates web pages download time.
